Zodiac has raised a $650k (€590k) angel round. Our backers include the founding team of Signavio, Gnosis co-founder Stefan George, ENS co-founder Alex Van de Sande and more.
The round turns Zodiac from an open standard into a company. Since 2023, more than $14B has moved through Zodiac contracts, in more than 8 million transactions. Gnosis Pay, kpk and the ENS endowment run on them. Now we are building the product that brings this infrastructure to every organization with capital onchain.
Onchain organizations will run trillions. They need an operating layer as serious as their capital. That is what we are building.

Onchain capital has outgrown its tools
Organizations now hold billions onchain, secured by multisigs. A multisig is the right foundation for custody, but on its own it was never meant to run daily operations. Every routine payment waits for a quorum, or a few people hold keys that can move everything. And every signature a routine task asks for is one more chance for an attacker.
In February 2025, Bybit began a routine transfer from its cold wallet. Attackers had compromised the signing interface. It showed the signers the transfer they expected, while the transaction underneath handed control of the Safe to the attackers. The signers approved it, and $1.5B left. The keys were never stolen. The money was gone anyway. Protecting the keys was not enough.
Zodiac takes a third path. Each person, team, bot or AI agent gets a role: enough authority for the job, and no more. Every rule is enforced onchain, on every call. Not by a runbook, not by a vendor’s server, and not by us.
Who backs us
Gero Decker, Nicolas Peters, Torben Schreiter, Willi Tscheschner and Gerrit de Veer are the Signavio founding team. They took Signavio from an open-source university project to an acquisition by SAP for close to €1 billion, one of Germany’s biggest B2B software success stories. They will advise us as we go forward and bring the B2B sales experience it takes to sell infrastructure to serious organizations.
Stefan George co-founded Gnosis and wrote the original multisig code that became Safe. Zodiac is built on Safe: every Zodiac account is a Safe, and our modules extend what a Safe can do.
Alex Van de Sande co-founded ENS. The ENS endowment runs on Zodiac, and his investment is a strong testament of trust in what we build.
They are joined by more angels from crypto. We chose to raise from people who have built companies themselves. Zodiac is crypto infrastructure for business customers, so we need experience on both sides: building in crypto, and selling software to organizations. Our angels bring both.
From open standard to company
Zodiac started in 2021 inside Gnosis, to run one of the largest treasuries onchain. It was open-source from day one. Modules such as Zodiac Roles let a Safe give each person, team or bot the exact permissions it needs, and nothing more. The standard spread to treasury managers, payment companies and DeFi platforms, among them kpk, Gnosis Pay, Almanak and Credit Coop. Today, the contracts secure more than $350M in value.
In July 2026, Zodiac became an independent company. It is a small, dedicated team of Ethereum and Safe veterans: Johannes Moormann, Jan-Felix Schwarz, Cristóvão Honorato and Philipp Giese. Auryn Macmillan, co-founder of Gnosis Guild, where Zodiac was first built, works with us in an active advisory role.
What we are building
Infrastructure alone is not enough. Most organizations do not want to write permission code. They want to see their accounts, decide who can do what, and run their daily operations with confidence.
We turn the standard into a product where organizations manage accounts, permissions and onchain operations in one place. Three things stay true:
- You keep custody. Your assets stay in your own Safe accounts. Zodiac never holds them.
- Every permission is onchain. The contracts enforce the rules, and anyone can verify them. An app can propose transactions all day. It cannot authorize one.
- You keep your flexibility. You can permit any onchain action, from a simple transfer to a multi-step DeFi strategy. Security does not cost you the flexibility that makes crypto powerful.
Here is one part of it. Your team keeps the DeFi apps it already knows. Zodiac Pilot records a workflow across them, checks every step against your roles, and executes it as one atomic transaction. Check every step. Commit once.
Agent-native from the ground up
We build the Zodiac app for a world in which agents do much of the work. Policies are defined in code: your favorite coding agent writes them, you review them, and only then do they land onchain. What used to take a specialist and weeks of work becomes a conversation, with every rule still in plain view before it takes effect.
The same model keeps AI agents in check when they transact onchain themselves. Each agent gets a role, and the contracts let through only the transactions that role allows. As more money moves through software, onchain permissions become the guardrails.
Where we’re going
This round gives us the runway to make Zodiac ready for the largest and most demanding organizations, and for everything their daily operations ask of it. And it lets us establish Zodiac as the most secure guardrails for agents operating onchain.
Thank you to our investors, and to every team that has built on Zodiac since 2021. We are excited for what comes next.
